Description
The Cambridge A Level English Language syllabus teaches pupils to speak, read, write and comprehend English text. Pupils are taught the rules of grammar and punctuation and how to communicate thier ideas and feelings clearly and correctly. Students learn to employ a wide ranging vocabulary, develop a personal style and an awareness of audience.
The Cambridge AS / A Level English Language syllabus enables pupils to progress on to Cambridge A Level English Language which will open opportunities to study further at university.
Assessment
Teacher assessments are continuous during LIVE TAUGHT lessons, marking of coursework and assignments and summative tests.
Homework
Homework will be given at the end of each week, usually in the form of problems to solve, researching key concepts.
Reporting
Students have 24/7 access to all of their resources and coursework.
Additionally the school holds 3 parent consultaions per year - one each term.

Course Outline
The course follows the current Cambridge International Exam (CIE) A Level 9093 specification.
Paper 1 Passages
The paper contains three questions. Candidates answer two questions: Question 1 and either Question 2 or Question 3. Questions carry equal marks. Externally assessed. 50 marks - 2 hours and 15 minutes examination - weighting 25%
Paper 2 Writing
Two sections: Section A and Section B. Candidates answer two questions: One from Section A and one from Section B. Questions carry equal marks. Externally assessed. 50 marks - 2 hours examinaton - weighting 25%
Paper 3 Text Anaylsis
The paper contains two questions. Candidates must answer both questions. Questions carry equal marks. Externally assessed. 50 marks - 2 hours and 15 minutes examinaton - weighting 25%
Paper 4 Language Topics.
The paper contains three questions, each on a separate topic area. Candidates answer two questions. Questions carry equal marks. Externally assessed. 50 marks - 2 hours and 15 minutes examinaton - weighting 25%
